Melbourne Party Hire Co is a trusted, family-run event hire business based in Oakleigh. For over 20 years we’ve helped Melburnians pull off everything from backyard birthdays to corporate functions and weddings — supplying chairs, tables, marquees, heaters, sound and lighting, glow furniture, and more than 200 product lines under one roof.

We’re a hands-on, fast-moving operation with a fleet of seven trucks, a busy warehouse, and a young, energetic team. Peak season (September–December) is full-on — and that’s when good organisation and cool heads really shine. We’re looking for someone who thrives in that setting and wants a real leadership role in a small company that values flexibility, teamwork, and getting the job done right.

About the role

This is a hands-on Storeperson / Warehouse Team Lead position. You’ll own the day-to-day organisation and flow of the warehouse, lead a team of warehouse staff, and take full responsibility for ensuring every vehicle is loaded correctly and ready to go.

We’re a small business. Plans change. Last-minute jobs come in. Gear moves fast. We need someone who can pivot without drama, keep standards high under pressure, and keep the team moving with a positive attitude.

Key responsibilities

- Organise warehouse layout, stock flow, and daily picking so orders move efficiently and safely
- Lead, roster, and support a warehouse team of approximately 5–10 staff
- Take ownership of vehicle loading — ensure all trucks are loaded accurately, securely, and ready for delivery
- Coordinate with drivers and the wider operations team so dispatch runs smoothly
- Maintain clear systems for stock movement, quality checks, and order readiness (we use Hirepos for inventory)




- Set the pace and standard on the warehouse floor — safety, accuracy, and a can-do attitude
- Adapt quickly when plans change, priorities shift, or last-minute jobs land
- Support peak-season volume and help the team stay organised when it’s busiest

About you

- A few years’ experience managing or leading a small team in a warehouse environment
- Strong experience loading vehicles accurately and efficiently — this is a core part of the role
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, physical, hands-on warehouse setting
- Flexible and calm under pressure — you handle last-minute changes without losing the plot
- A natural fit with a young, energetic team (most of our crew are mid-20s to early 30s)
- Clear communicator who leads by example and keeps standards high without being heavy-handed
- Reliable, organised, and proud of doing the job properly
- Full working rights in Australia and a current driver’s licence (preferred)
- Manual handling fitness and a genuine willingness to get stuck in every day
