The Royal Tea Rooms is a new tea room opening in Melbourne, offering an elegant and modern take on traditional afternoon tea.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Pastry Chef / Pâtisserie Chef to join our opening team.

The role will focus on the preparation, finishing and presentation of our pastry and dessert selection, as well as producing fresh scones and other items for our High Tea service. We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail who can maintain consistent quality and beautiful presentation throughout service.

You will be responsible for:

- Creating and developing cakes, pastries and petit desserts
- Developing desserts specifically for our High Tea experiences
- Producing scones, tarts, cakes and other premium sweets
- Creating seasonal and signature desserts
- Ensuring consistent presentation, quality and portioning
- Recipe development and standardisation
- Assisting with food costing and portion control
- Managing pastry stock and ordering
- Maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards




- Minimising waste and managing production efficiently
- Working with management to develop new menu ideas

About You

We are looking for someone who:

- Has professional pastry/pâtisserie experience
- Has strong cake and dessert production skills
- Has excellent attention to detail and presentation
- Is creative and interested in developing new products
- Understands commercial kitchen production and food costs
- Can work independently and manage their own section
- Is organised, reliable and passionate about pastry

Experience with High Tea, petit fours, French pâtisserie or premium cake production would be highly regarded.
