About the role.
Inca Home Services is looking for experienced and qualified, Disability & Mental Health Support Workers to join our Day Program, Community and SIL teams on the Central Coast NSW. Our focus in on maintaining functional abilities, skill building, promoting independence and achieving the participants goals. As a Disability & Mental Health Worker, you will provide tailored individual supports to our participants living with complex needs and have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of our clients. This role is a permanent part-time position supporting a male participant.
Essential qualifications of the role
- Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services or in a related field and/or equivalent experience working in a relevant setting.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Disability or Mental Health Support
- Hold a current NSW Working with Children check (WWCC)
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
- National Police check with a minimum of 6 months validity.
- Current Driver’s license with own transport and Comprehensive Insurance
- Hold a current NDIS work screening check
- Demonstrated understanding of working with vulnerable people to live their best life
- Experience in working with people with Disabilities, Mental Health and Complex Behaviours
- Flexibility to work on weekdays and or weekends.
- Candidates must hold a valid work visa or have Australian work rights
Duties Involved:
The successful applicant will:
- Providing personalized care inclusive of personal care and medication assistance
- Support to clients with disabilities with daily living tasks and activities, including manual handling support
- Provide consistent, person-centred support to a participant Physical Health conditions, Mental Health,
Intellectual and Physical Disability within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to address behaviours of concern.
- Assisting participants to achieve their goals and maintain their independence
- Engaging in meaningful activities and social outings
- Documenting progress and updates in line with organisational policies
- Follow all service plans and complete all documentation including Incident Reports and medication charts
- Promoting a positive, inclusive, and empowering environment for clients
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care

- Ability to support someone through a tough moment, not just a task and provide encourage to continue

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- A reliable, patient, and compassionate approach
