Our Chance
The Procurement Support Officer position supports the ongoing delivery of procurement outcomes across IP Australia and is suited to candidates who are ready to step into a role with clear accountability, continuity of work, and the ability to learn and make a meaningful impact from the outset.
This position is responsible for providing professional and policy advice in relation to procurement and contract management and supporting the establishment of best practice procurement policies and processes.
In this role as Procurement Officer, responsibilities include:
manage procurement activities in accordance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules and agency policies
plan and coordinate procurement processes, including Request for Quotes (RFQs), tenders, market engagement and evaluations
conduct procurement and contract management activities using Commonwealth procurement arrangements, including Whole of Government Panels
prepare procurement recommendations and provide procurement and contract management advice
establish, administer and support contract managers throughout the contract lifecycle, including contract variations
promote Indigenous procurement outcomes in line with the Indigenous Procurement Policy
maintain procurement records and reporting requirements, including AusTender reporting
monitor procurement and contract activities to ensure compliance, governance and value for money outcomes
undertake procurement administration, including quality assurance, inbox management, and coordination of meetings and forums
deliver procurement guidance, training materials and stakeholder support
identify and support implementation of improvements to procurement processes, systems and performance.
Job specific capabilities
The successful candidate for this role will:
maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at all levels across the agency
apply innovation and problem-solving skills to maximise the benefits of change and contribute to improvements in the quality and efficiency of our services
have clear, strong and effective communication skills, great attention to detail and the ability to provide stakeholders with legislative and general guidance and support
have, or be able to quickly acquire, a sound knowledge of the role and functions of the agency, and an understanding of how these relate to procurement and contract management
understand and be familiar with relevant legislation such as the PGPA Act, and procurement policy frameworks such as the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, or the capacity to gain this within a short timeframe
show commitment to learning and self-development.
