Metal Machinist (First Class)

Australian Hammer Supplies Hire is seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Metal Machinist (First Class) to join our workshop in Ingleburn, NSW.

This is a full-time permanent position working on the manufacture, repair and refurbishment of components used in excavator attachments, hydraulic hammers and heavy construction equipment.

About the Role

Working within our workshop, you will manufacture new components and restore worn machinery parts to ensure our customers' equipment is returned to service quickly and reliably.

Responsibilities

- Manufacture replacement pins, bushes, shafts and other precision-engineered components for heavy equipment.
- Operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses and other workshop machinery to produce parts to specification.
- Set up machines, select suitable tooling and determine machining methods for individual jobs.
- Read engineering drawings and work from dimensions and tolerances to manufacture components accurately.
- Inspect finished work using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and bore gauges.
- Repair or remanufacture worn components where possible to extend service life.
- Machine new parts to suit hydraulic hammers, excavator attachments and associated equipment.
- Work closely with technicians to identify suitable repair methods for damaged components.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of workshop machinery and equipment.




- Maintain accurate job records and follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.

Essential Requirements

- Australian recognised trade qualification Certificate III in Engineering- Mechanical Trade.
- Current Australian driver's licence, or the ability to obtain one within three (3) months of commencing employment.
- Current High Risk Work Licence – Forklift (LF), or the ability to obtain one within three (3) months of commencing employment.
- Minimum two years' post-trade machining experience.
- Have the right to live and work in Australia.
- Ability to confidently interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience working to close tolerances.
- Strong knowledge of manual machining practices. CNC experience is advantageous but not essential.
- High attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Competitive hourly rate $38.00 to $41.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
