Yard Supervisor – Traralgon

The Sims Victorian Team is looking for a Yard Supervisor to join our team at the Traralgon Yard.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced supervisor or emerging leader who is ready to take the next step into supervision and build their leadership skills in a fast paced, hands on operational environment.

Your new role

Reporting to the Yard Manager, you will play an important role in the day to day running of the yard, supporting our team to work safely, efficiently and productively.

You’ll be working closely with the Yard Manager and the wider team to coordinate people, equipment and daily activities, while helping to create a positive and supportive team environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Lead and support the team by coordinating daily activities, allocating work and ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Drive productivity and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve the way we work and making sure the yard operates effectively.
- Lead by example on safety, ensuring you and your team follow our safety, health, environment and community requirements.
- Build a positive team culture by supporting teamwork, inclusion,



employee engagement and positive workplace relationships.
- Deliver great customer service, building strong relationships with customers and ensuring their needs are met.
- Work closely with the Yard Manager to support the smooth day to day operation of the yard and achieve business goals.
- Comply with all Sims Metal policies, standards and procedures relevant to the role.

To be successful, you'll bring:

- Leadership skills with the proven ability to motivate, support and get the best out of a team.
- Experience in operating plant and machinery ideally – excavator, loader, crane or forklift
- A strong safety mindset and commitment to creating a safe workplace.
- Good communication and people skills, with the confidence to work with employees, customers and other stakeholders.
- A practical, hands on approach, with a focus on getting the job done safely and efficiently.
- Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and work independently.
- A willingness to learn and develop, with the drive to grow your career with Sims Metal.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
