At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

This role sits within the Customer Protection Strategy & Performance team and is responsible for shaping and leading ANZ’s card fraud analytics strategy across card-present and card-not-present channels.

The Card Analytics Lead defines the strategic direction for fraud detection and prevention within the card ecosystem, owning end-to-end fraud performance while balancing fraud risk, customer experience, and authorisation outcomes. The role enables effective delivery through clear prioritisation, strong stakeholder alignment, and a high-performing analytics team in a fast-paced and evolving threat workplace.

Role Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Role Location: Melbourne or Brisbane
Work Hours: 40 hrs/week

What will your day look like?

As a Card Analytics Lead, you'll be responsible for driving the performance and effectiveness of ANZ's card fraud detection and prevention capabilities. You'll analyse fraud trends across card-present and card-not-present channels, identify emerging threats, and translate insights into actionable strategies that protect customers while supporting a seamless payments experience.

You'll work closely with Fraud Operations, Product, Technology, Risk, and external partners to optimise fraud controls, improve detection performance, and deliver strategic initiatives across the card ecosystem. A key part of your role will be balancing fraud risk, customer experience, and approval rates to achieve the best outcomes for both customers and the business.

You'll leverage data and analytics to monitor portfolio performance, measure the effectiveness of fraud strategies, and provide clear recommendations to stakeholders. You'll also contribute to the implementation of new fraud controls, support continuous improvement initiatives, and represent ANZ in industry and scheme discussions where appropriate.

What will you bring?

You're a highly analytical and commercially minded fraud professional with strong experience in card fraud analytics and a passion for using data to solve complex problems. You have a deep understanding of card fraud typologies, emerging fraud trends, and the controls required to mitigate fraud risk across the payments ecosystem.

You'll bring proven experience using data and analytics to drive fraud outcomes, with strong technical capabilities across analytical tools and fraud detection platforms. You can translate complex insights into practical recommendations and influence stakeholders across multiple business areas to drive action.

You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, and making data-driven decisions that balance fraud risk, customer experience, and business performance.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

- Strong experience in card fraud analytics within banking or financial services.
- Deep understanding of card fraud trends, fraud typologies, and fraud prevention strategies.
- Experience working with large datasets and analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, or equivalent.
- Experience with fraud detection and decisioning platforms, including FICO Falcon or similar solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- The ability to translate data and insights into clear business recommendations.
- Experience delivering strategic initiatives and driving measurable fraud outcomes.
- A customer-focused mindset with a strong understanding of fraud, approval-rate, and customer experience trade-offs.
