About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Butcher to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and presenting a range of halal meats to a high standard, while providing excellent service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, bone, and prepare meat (beef, lamb, chicken, goat, etc.) to customer and shop standards
- Prepare halal meat products in line with halal requirements
- Serve customers, take orders, and provide advice on cuts and preparation
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic work area in line with food safety standards
- Manage stock, including receiving deliveries and rotating stock (FIFO)
- Operate and maintain butchery equipment (band saws, mincers, slicers) safely
- Ensure compliance with food safety and workplace health & safety regulations
- Assist with merchandising and displaying products in the shop
Requirements
- Proven experience as a butcher or in a similar meat preparation role
- Sound knowledge of different meat cuts and preparation techniques
- Understanding of halal meat handling practices (preferred)
- Current Food Safety Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods, and lift moderate weights
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work full-time hours
- Legal right to work in Australia
