SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Cook or Chef on behalf of our client, a well-established accommodation and hospitality business located in Ceduna, South Australia.

The business provides motel accommodation alongside an on-site licensed restaurant catering to motel guests, travellers, locals and visitors to the Eyre Peninsula region. The restaurant offers a varied menu with a strong focus on Indian cuisine, complemented by popular Australian dishes, seasonal selections and fresh local produce. With a commitment to quality food and welcoming regional hospitality, the business is seeking an experienced culinary professional to join its kitchen team.

Position – Chef/Cook – one position available

Location – Ceduna, South Australia 5690

Salary - $75,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent

NB: We are seeking one position only. Appointment as Chef or Cook will be determined according to the successful applicant’s qualifications, skills and relevant experience.

THE ROLE:

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Chef or Cook with experience in Indian cuisine to join a busy hospitality business. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a diverse range of menu items, with a particular focus on Indian dishes, while maintaining consistent standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and kitchen efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

· Prepare and cook a range of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements, with a strong focus on Indian cuisine.

· Prepare Indian dishes using appropriate cooking methods, spices, marinades, sauces and ingredients to achieve consistent flavour and quality.

· Prepare ingredients, including portioning, marinating, seasoning and preparing sauces and accompaniments.





· Cook a range of menu items to order while ensuring meals are prepared efficiently and presented to a high standard.

· Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to maintain consistency, portion control and quality.

· Ensure dishes meet established standards for taste, presentation and quality before service.

· Cater for customer dietary requirements and allergies in accordance with food safety procedures.

· Assist with maintaining appropriate stock levels, checking deliveries and ensuring ingredients are correctly stored and rotated.

· Monitor food supplies and minimise wastage through appropriate portioning, storage and stock rotation.

· Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

· Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with relevant food handling requirements.

· Work collaboratively with other kitchen and hospitality staff to ensure efficient and timely meal service.

· Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment throughout all shifts.

· Follow Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and established kitchen practices at all times.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

- Relevant commercial cookery qualification, such as a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or agreed equivalent).

- Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) experience as a Cook in a busy commercial kitchen environment.

- Demonstrated experience preparing and cooking Indian cuisine, including sound knowledge of Indian ingredients, spices, sauces and cooking techniques.





- Ability to prepare and cook a varied range of dishes consistently and to a high standard.

- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices.

- Ability to work effectively under pressure during busy service periods.

- Robust organisational and time management skills.

- Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent food quality and presentation.

- A positive attitude and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Flexibility to work across weekdays, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

- You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.

- A competitive salary of $75,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum, depednant on experience.
