Café Cook / Chef

Full-Time or Part-Time · Westfield Parramatta, NSW · Immediate Start

About Us

Iconic Cafe has been a cornerstone of Westfield Parramatta for more than two decades. Since opening in 2002, we have built a loyal following by consistently delivering high-quality modern Australian cuisine in a welcoming, fast-paced environment. Our menu celebrates fresh, seasonal breakfast and lunch fare, and our team takes genuine pride in the food they produce and the service they provide.

The Role

We are looking for a capable and committed Café Cook to become a valued member of our kitchen team. This role is well-suited to someone who thrives in a high-volume service environment, takes ownership of their workstation, and consistently produces food to a high standard. Whether you come from a café, restaurant, or hotel kitchen background, what matters most is your attitude, your reliability, and your pride in the food you put on the plate.

Both Full-Time and Part-Time arrangements are available, with a minimum of 40 hours per week guaranteed for full-time candidates.

What You Will Be Doing

- Menu Execution: Prepare, cook, and present all menu items accurately and to established recipe and plating standards, covering our full modern Australian breakfast and lunch range.
- Service Flow: Manage your section efficiently during service, maintaining pace and output quality through both quiet periods and peak rushes.
- Dietary & Allergy Compliance: Identify and respond appropriately to customer dietary requirements and allergies, following safe food-handling protocols at all times.
- Kitchen Standards: Keep your workstation clean, organised,

and compliant with food safety legislation throughout every shift.
- Equipment Operation: Use and care for all standard kitchen equipment in a safe and competent manner, reporting any faults or maintenance needs promptly.
- Stock Awareness: Assist with stock rotation, monitor ingredient levels, and notify management of any shortfalls or wastage concerns.
- Team Communication: Contribute to a respectful and productive kitchen environment, communicating clearly with front-of-house staff and following direction from senior team members.
- Consistency & Quality: Uphold the café's standards with every dish — presentation, portion accuracy, and flavour must remain consistent across every service.

What We Are Looking For

- Demonstrated experience in a café, restaurant, or similar high-volume kitchen environment.
- Solid working knowledge of modern Australian breakfast and lunch cuisine.
- Ability to accurately follow recipes, specifications, and presentation guides.
- Competent use of standard kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Solid working knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (Food Handler certification highly regarded).
- Well-organised with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively during service.

- Composed and focused under pressure — you do not let a busy service affect your output or attitude.
- A clear communicator who works well within a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and consistently professional in conduct and presentation.
- Available to work on both Saturdays and Sundays as part of your regular roster.
- Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia (Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident preferred).

Remuneration & Conditions

- Remuneration is offered in accordance with the Restaurant Industry Award 2010, with a base rate from $27 per hour.
- Final salary is negotiable and will reflect your experience, qualifications, and the scope of the role.
- Full-Time candidates can expect a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week with consistent rostering.
- Part-Time arrangements are also available for the right candidate.
- You will be joining a stable, well-established business with a genuine team culture and a kitchen that runs with professionalism and purpose.

How to Apply

To apply, please send your current resume along with a brief cover letter describing your relevant experience and why you believe you are the right fit for our team. Applications that speak specifically to café or high-volume kitchen experience will be given priority consideration.

We look forward to hearing from you.
