Position purpose

The Production Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, efficient and consistent manufacture of aerosol products at the company’s production facility.

The position has operational responsibility for production planning, batch mixing, formulation control, aerosol filling, quality control, equipment reliability and maintenance, workforce competency, inventory coordination, process improvement and environmental performance.

The Production Manager must ensure that products are manufactured in accordance with approved formulations, specifications, batch instructions, quality requirements and applicable regulatory obligations. The position is expected to provide visible leadership on the production floor and establish reliable systems through which management can verify that production, quality and safety requirements are being consistently achieved.

Qualification and Experience

Highly valued experience as follows, in order of importance:

· Technical capability in paint, coatings or aerosol manufacturing

· Supervisory or team leader experience in a production environment

· Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent industry training

· Familiarity with quality-management systems such as ISO 9001

· First-aid qualification or relevant emergency-response training and forklift licence

· Familiarity with environmental-management systems such as ISO 14001

· Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S or similar

Job Description

· Develop daily, weekly and monthly production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, stock requirements, available labour, raw materials,



equipment capacity and maintenance requirements.

· Communicate schedules and priorities clearly to production team, procurement team and management.

· Ensure that only current and authorised formulations, bills of materials and manufacturing instructions are used. Verify raw-material identity, quantities, lot numbers and mixing parameters.

· Supervise and control the activities performed in the mixing room ; including weighing, powder/colour additions, milling, mixing, transfer of paints, solvents

· Supervise and control the activities performed in the filling room; including managing filling, crimping, propellant charging, leak testing, weighing, coding, labelling, packing and line-clearance activities.

· Establish and supervise finished-product quality checks. Ensure testing is completed at required stages, which may include viscosity, colour, density, solids, appearance, fill weight, crimp dimensions, pressure, spray pattern, discharge rate, leakage and packaging verification. Prevent the release of nonconforming product.

· Ensure every batch and production run has a complete manufacturing record, raw-material traceability, operator sign-off, in-process test results, final quality results and documented release decision. Maintain effective product-retention and sample-management systems.

· Establish safe operating parameters and controls for flammable propellants, solvents and pressurised containers. Plan and supervise product and packaging changeovers.

· Monitor production output, labour utilisation, cycle time, line speed, yield, rejects, rework, waste, changeover time and unplanned downtime. Investigate performance losses and implement corrective actions.

· Establish preventive-maintenance schedules for all the equipment, including mixers, pumps, compressors, scales, filling machines, crimpers, gassers, conveyors, leak-testing equipment,



ventilation systems and other associated equipment used in manufacturing.

· Coordinate breakdown response, contractor access, spare-parts availability and maintenance records. Provide regular production reports covering schedule attainment, output, quality, downtime, maintenance, waste, safety, staffing, inventory risks and improvement projects. Escalate significant safety, quality or delivery risks promptly to the Management.

· Develop, maintain and review standard operating procedures, work instructions, cleaning procedures, changeover standards, start-up and shutdown procedures, line-clearance requirements and process-control limits.

· Lead risk assessments, pre-start checks, safe work procedures, permit controls, isolation and lockout processes, chemical-transfer controls, spill response, static-control measures, ignition-source controls, emergency procedures and PPE compliance. Ensure hazards, near misses and incidents are reported and investigated.

· Control solvent waste, paint waste, rejected aerosols, residual propellant, contaminated packaging and other regulated waste streams. Monitor waste generation, spills, emissions and relevant volatile organic compound controls. Work with approved waste contractors and maintain disposal records.

· Support the development of new aerosol products and improvements to existing formulations.

The Production Manager must demonstrate:

· Strong technical judgement and the ability to make secure decisions under production pressure.

· A practical, hands-on management style and willingness to maintain a visible presence on the production floor.

· High attention to detail when reviewing formulations, production records and quality results.

· The ability to identify process variation and distinguish symptoms from underlying causes.

· Clear written communication and the ability to produce reliable procedures, reports and investigation records.

· Confidence in directing employees, contractors and technical specialists.

· The ability to balance production output, cost, quality, safety and environmental obligations.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
