Medical Receptionist

Telehealth Medical Clinic | Tasmania-based | Hybrid Remote | Guaranteed 15 Hours
$30–$38 per hour, based on experience

We are seeking a reliable, compassionate and highly organised Medical Receptionist to join our growing telehealth medical clinic.

This is a permanent part-time position with a guaranteed minimum of 15 hours per week, with the opportunity and expectation for hours to increase as the clinic continues to grow.

The role is well suited to an experienced medical receptionist who is confident working independently, comfortable with technology and practice management systems, and takes pride in providing professional, compassionate and efficient patient care.

About the role

You will be the first point of contact for our patients and play an important role in creating a welcoming and seamless experience.

You will work as part of a small, supportive administration team alongside two other medical receptionists, working closely with our doctors and clinical team to ensure the day-to-day running of the clinic is efficient and well organised.

The position is hybrid remote and requires someone based in Hobart, Tasmania, with the ability to work independently from home while communicating effectively and working collaboratively with the wider team.

A high level of flexibility is essential. You will need to be available to take on additional shifts when required, including:

- Covering full days (9:00am–5:00pm) at short notice when another staff member is unwell
- Covering planned annual leave
- Working additional hours during school holidays and busy periods
- Increasing your regular hours as the clinic continues to grow

There is strong potential for this role to increase in both hours and responsibility over time.

Key responsibilities

- Managing incoming calls, emails and patient enquiries




- Booking and coordinating telehealth appointments
- Processing payments and issuing invoices
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records
- Using Best Practice or similar medical practice management software
- Using HotDoc and other digital systems
- Preparing and managing documents and templates
- Liaising with doctors and staff to support clinic flow
- Working collaboratively with the other administration staff
- Assisting with general administrative tasks
- Providing a high standard of patient service and communication

About you

You will ideally have previous experience working as a medical receptionist and must have experience using Best Practice or a similar medical practice management system.

You will be:

- Experienced in medical reception
- Confident using Best Practice or similar practice management software
- Comfortable learning and using digital systems
- Warm, professional and confident when communicating with patients
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
- Familiar with patient privacy and confidentiality requirements
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- A strong team player who communicates well with colleagues
- Flexible and willing to take on additional hours and short-notice shifts when required
- Looking for a long-term role with the opportunity to grow with the clinic

Requirements

- Previous medical reception experience




- Experience using Best Practice or similar medical practice management software is essential
- Experience with HotDoc is highly desirable
- Own computer suitable for remote work
- Reliable internet connection
- Own phone
- Private, quiet workspace suitable for confidential patient conversations
- Based in Hobart, Tasmania

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Hobart TAS

The successful applicant will be required to commence with a guaranteed minimum of 15 hours per week, with hours expected to increase as the clinic grows. Flexibility to provide additional cover at short notice is an significant requirement of the role.

Pay: $32.00 – $37.00 per hour
