Xpress Mezze Cafe

We are seeking a high-energy, versatile Café All-Rounder / Barista to join our team. In this role, you will be the heartbeat of our café pulling exceptional espresso shots while seamlessly stepping onto the floor to serve guests, clear tables, and support the kitchen whenever necessary. The ideal candidate thrives in a rapid-paced environment, maintains a calm and positive attitude under pressure, and loves building a rapport with our regular customers. Key Responsibilities :Barista & Beverage Duties

- Dial in grinders and calibrate espresso machines daily to manage coffee extraction.
- Froth and texture milk consistently for a variety of specialty coffee orders.
- Prepare cold drinks, teas, fresh juices, and smoothies accurately.
- Clean and backflush espresso equipment at the start and end of shifts.

Front of House & Customer Service

- Greet customers warmly, manage seating, and present menus.
- Operate Point of Sale (POS) systems to take accurate orders and process cash/card transactions.
- Deliver food and drinks to tables efficiently and handle takeaway packaging.
- Upsell and suggest daily food specials, pastries, and menu add-ons.

Floor Operations & Back of House Support

- Clear, clean, and sanitise tables, counters,



and dining furniture promptly.
- Restock cafe supplies including milk fridges, coffee beans, cups, and takeaway items.
- Assist kitchen staff with basic food prep, warming pastries, or washing dishes during peak rushes.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene regulations, and OH&S; guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years working as a specialty barista or within a busy hospitality environment is preferred but not essential.
- Coffee Knowledge: Strong fundamentals in espresso extraction, milk texturing, and latte art.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a welcoming, customer-first attitude.
- Speed and Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and multi-task efficiently during peak morning rushes.
- Teamwork: A proactive, "no task is too small" mindset to jump in wherever the team needs help.
- Certifications: Safe Food Handling Certificate or a local Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) qualification is a distinct advantage
