We're partnering with a successful Melbourne software company to appoint a Software Engineering Lead to join their technology team. You'll lead a great team of five developers; it's a genuine player-coach role where you'll spend around 80% of your time designing and developing software, with the remaining 20% focused on mentoring the team, providing technical direction and supporting delivery. The business develops customer-facing software used by healthcare organisations across Australia and internationally, making a real difference.

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Principal Engineer, you'll play a key role in the ongoing development and enhancement of the company's core software platform while helping to grow and support a highly capable engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role within a business that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

- Lead, mentor and support a team of five experienced software engineers.
- Design, develop and maintain customer-facing software applications.
- Contribute to architecture, technical design and code reviews.
- Work closely with the Principal Engineer on product development and technical direction.
- Support the delivery of new product features and enhancements.
- Champion high-quality,



secure and maintainable software development practices.
- Foster a collaborative and positive engineering culture.

About you

You'll be a passionate software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and helping others succeed.

You'll bring:

- Strong commercial experience developing applications using .NET / .NET Core and SQL Server.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong software design and problem-solving skills.
- A collaborative approach and excellent communication skills.
- Experience mentoring or leading developers, either formally or informally.

Experience with Azure, Angular, mobile development or healthcare software will be highly regarded but isn't essential.
