The Regulatory Breach Specialist is responsible for leading complex incident investigations, ensuring that findings are accurate, well-evidenced, and clearly documented. This role involves providing guidance and technical expertise to junior analysts on investigation methodology and significance assessments.
Key accountabilities
- Lead complex incident investigations ensuring findings are accurate, well-evidenced and clearly documented.
- Provide guidance and technical expertise to junior analysts on investigation methodology and significance assessments.
- Monitor, interpret, and advise on changes to relevant legislation and guidance in relation to breach reporting.
- Maintain a high level of awareness of regulatory trends and expectations to ensure ongoing alignment.
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or risks in breach reporting and incident assessment processes and recommend enhancements to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the development, review, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and frameworks relating to incident and breach management.
- Preparation of high-quality submissions for relevant committees, management and regulators.
- Coach and mentor breach analysts to build capability in legal and regulatory analysis, investigation skills, and report writing.
Knowledge, experience and qualifications
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Law or similar specialisation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant financial services regulation.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to assess incident and breach significance under multiple regimes.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with ability to draft high-quality regulatory notifications, internal reports, and recommendations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple matters in a high-volume, rapid-paced environment.
- Stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within a financial services compliance, regulatory affairs, or legal function.
- Experience liaising directly with regulators.
- Familiarity with GRC tools.
- Knowledge of prudential standards and governance frameworks.
