People & Culture Lead

Full Time | Bullsbrook, WA | Travel to Pemberton as required

Berry Sweet is a successful and expanding Western Australian berry producer with operations in Bullsbrook and Pemberton. As our business and workforce continue to grow, we have also recently been approved as an employer under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme.

We are seeking an experienced, practical and hands-on People & Culture Lead to take responsibility for our day-to-day HR and people functions and help us build the systems and capability required for our next stage of growth.

The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will work closely with our Workforce Manager, Finance & Payroll team, Farm Managers and supervisors.

This is a broad, hands-on role covering:

- Day-to-day HR advice and employee relations

- Recruitment, contracts, onboarding and offboarding

- Performance reviews and performance management support

- Employment compliance, HR policies and procedures

- Supporting the establishment and ongoing management of our newly approved PALM Scheme

- Working with our existing labour hire partners and monitoring compliance

- Employee welfare and accommodation coordination

- Payroll support, overtime monitoring and payroll leave cover

- Supporting workplace Health & Safety systems and compliance

- General office and business administration where required

- Continuous improvement of HR and people systems

Initially, you will work closely with our external PALM management provider to develop a thorough understanding of the Scheme,



with the opportunity to progressively take greater internal responsibility for PALM as our workforce grows.

You will also work closely with our Workforce Manager on labour hire, accommodation and employee welfare, allowing operational workforce management and People & Culture to work together effectively.

About You

We are looking for an experienced HR professional who enjoys being close to the operation and working with people at all levels.

You will ideally have:

- Strong generalist HR experience

- Good knowledge of Fair Work, Modern Awards and Australian employment legislation

- Experience with recruitment, onboarding and employee relations

- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

- Strong organisation and attention to detail

- A practical, proactive and hands-on approach

- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel between sites

Experience in payroll, Health & Safety, labour hire, agriculture/horticulture, employee accommodation or the PALM Scheme would be highly regarded but is not essential.
