About The Company

Our client is a Perth-based environmental consultancy delivering technically rigorous advice across contaminated sites, waste characterisation, groundwater, landfill gas, and environmental planning and reporting.

Working across the mining, waste, development, and government sectors, the business has built its approach around defensible science, transparent reporting, and strong regulatory relationships within Western Australia. Their projects regularly combine waste and hydro-geochemical characterisation with groundwater investigation and modelling, supported by an established network of specialist geochemists and surface and groundwater modellers.

About The Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical and delivery leadership across the company's groundwater and geochemistry program, while helping develop its capabilities and client base.

Reporting directly to the Director / Principal Environmental Consultant, some of your responsibilities will include:

- Leading groundwater investigations, including bore installation, sampling, aquifer testing, and conceptual model development
- Delivering waste characterisation across AMD/ARD and general waste streams, including acid-base accounting and kinetic testing
- Building, calibrating, and applying groundwater flow and solute-transport models using MODFLOW and FEFLOW
- Leading hydro-geochemical modelling and source characterisation across water quality, mineralogy, and geochemical processes
- Scoping and reviewing landfill gas monitoring and assessment programs
- Preparing groundwater, waste, and monitoring management plans and technical reports




- Providing technical direction to external geochemists and groundwater and surface-water modelling specialists
- Engaging with clients and Western Australian regulators, including DWER and the EPA
- Building and maintaining strong client and specialist relationships

About You

The successful candidate will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline with a strong hydrogeology focus
- Demonstrated experience in hydrogeological investigation, assessment, and reporting
- Strong working knowledge of geochemistry and hydrology and their application to groundwater and waste projects
- Practical experience with MODFLOW and/or FEFLOW numerical groundwater modelling
- Experience with waste characterisation, including AMD/ARD assessment and general waste classification
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear and defensible reports
- Familiarity with Western Australian environmental regulations and relevant guidelines

Experience with hydro-geochemical modelling such as PHREEQC, landfill gas assessment, specialist subconsultant management, and field supervision across mining, waste, or development projects will be highly regarded. Postgraduate qualifications and qualified memberships such as IAH will also be advantageous.
