About the Role
Vital Accounts is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a role within our practice where you'll take ownership of bookkeeping operations and play a key part in delivering high-quality financial services to our client base of trade, construction, and small business owners. As an autonomous Bookkeeper working within a supportive team, you'll manage complex bookkeeping tasks and help ensure everything we deliver meets Bookkeeping standards and regulatory requirements. Solid, hands-on Xero experience is essential!
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full bookkeeping operations for multiple clients, including data entry, account reconciliation and BAS preparation
- Prepare and process clients' payroll, including PAYG withholding, superannuation and leave calculations, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and attention to detail including end of month statements
- Maintain organised, compliant bookkeeping records and documentation
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular, direct communication.
- Manage financial data using Xero and integrated apps
- Carry out BAS-related work in line with current GST regulations
What We're Looking For
Must-haves
- Minimum 2+ years' bookkeeping experience either as an internal bookkeeper, professional accounting or bookkeeping practice
- Experience in payroll processing including sound understanding of superannuation compliance requirements
- Solid, hands-on experience working in Xero (non-negotiable)
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and BAS preparation
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple clients and meeting deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with numerical data
- Strong communication and client liaison skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience with MYOB or QuickBooks in addition to Xero
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Accounting/Bookkeeping
- Experience in a trade, construction, or field service client base
- Familiarity with integrated apps such as ServiceM8, Hubdoc, Buildxact, or PayApps
