Job Summary:

The Data and AI Governance Lead is responsible for ensuring CBRE Pacific's data and AI assets are trusted, well-governed, compliant, and used responsibly. The role establishes and operates the governance framework that allows the region to scale data and AI with confidence - protecting the business while enabling, not blocking, value creation.

Sitting within the D&T; Pacific team and partnering closely with the Data Architect, the Data Product Manager, and Data Analytics Manager, this role owns data governance, data quality, privacy, and responsible-AI and AI-risk management end to end, embedding the controls, standards, and stewardship needed to sustain trust in data and AI across Leasing, Consulting, Capital Markets, and corporate functions.

The ideal candidate combines deep data governance and technology-risk expertise with a pragmatic, enablement-focused mindset, and understands the distinct governance challenges introduced by AI and GenAI.

Key Responsibilities

Data & AI Governance Framework

· Establish and own the data and AI governance framework for CBRE Pacific, aligned to the regional data and AI strategy, global policy, and regulatory obligations.

· Define the governance operating model, accountabilities (data owners and stewards), policies, standards, and decision forums.

· Embed governance into the data and AI lifecycle so that it enables delivery rather than impeding it.

Data Quality & Stewardship

· Define and monitor data quality standards, metrics, and remediation across critical data domains.

· Establish a data catalogue, business glossary, and metadata/lineage capability to improve discoverability and trust.

· Coordinate a network of data stewards across business units and corporate functions.

Privacy, Security & Compliance

· Ensure data and AI practices comply with privacy law (e.g., the Australian Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles, and the New Zealand Privacy Act), security standards, and CBRE policy.

· Partner with security, legal, and risk teams on data classification, access management, and audit readiness.

· Maintain audit-ready documentation for data and AI governance, access controls, and model decisions.

Responsible AI & AI Risk Management

· Establish a responsible-AI framework covering fairness, transparency, explainability, accountability, and human oversight.

· Own AI and model governance - model inventory, risk assessment, approval, monitoring, and lifecycle controls - including for GenAI.

· Work with the Architect to ensure AI systems are monitored for drift, bias, and degradation in performance.

Risk, Audit & Assurance

· Operate within defined enterprise risk appetites and act as the governance point of contact for data and AI audits.

· Assess and govern third-party data and AI vendors and models for compliance, security, and risk.

Culture, Capability & Enablement

· Champion a data- and AI-literate, responsible culture across Pacific.

· Provide guardrails, training,

and clear guidance that empower teams to use data and AI safely and confidently.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

· 10+ years in data governance, data management, privacy, or technology risk and compliance roles, including leadership experience.

· Proven experience establishing and operating data governance frameworks in complex, matrixed organisations.

· Strong knowledge of data quality, metadata and lineage, cataloguing, and stewardship practices.

· Deep understanding of privacy and data protection regulation (Australia and Recent Zealand highly regarded) and security/audit requirements.

· Experience with AI and model governance and responsible-AI frameworks, including the risks introduced by GenAI.

· Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to influence at senior leadership level.

Desirable

· Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CDMP/DAMA, CISA, or AI-governance credentials).

· Experience in real estate, professional services, or regulated industries.

· Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as CEP/Salesforce and modern data platforms.

Key Competencies

· Governance as Enablement: Designs controls that build trust and accelerate safe adoption rather than block it.

· Risk Judgement: Calibrates controls proportionately to risk, value, and regulatory context.

· Integrity: Upholds the highest standards of compliance, privacy, and ethical use of data and AI.

· Influence: Builds a culture of accountability and stewardship across the organisation.

· Pragmatism: Balances rigour with the realities of delivery and business pace.
