Adventure Gear Australia is an independent, locally owned retail store specialising in quality camping, 4x4, touring, navigation and prospecting gear. We've built our reputation on genuine expert advice and honest, friendly service, helping customers explore South Australia and beyond with confidence.

We're a small, tight-knit team and we're looking for someone who'll feel like a natural fit from day one.

About the Role

This is a full-time role, with part time positions also available for the right people. You'll be on the floor helping customers find the right gear for their next trip, sharing genuine outdoor knowledge, and being a big part of what makes shopping with us different from the big chains.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver outstanding, knowledgeable customer service every day

- Help customers choose the right camping, 4x4, touring, navigation and prospecting gear for their trip

- Give practical, honest product advice based on real experience, not just a sales script

- Take initiative on daily tasks such as merchandising, stock control and store presentation, without needing to be asked

- Get involved in sales activities and the occasional prospecting related event

- Bring your own stories and passion for SA touring and camping into every customer conversation

We're Looking For Someone Who:

- Genuinely loves camping and 4x4-ing.



This isn't a role for someone who just likes the idea of the outdoors, we need someone who's actually out there doing it

- Has real, personal experience camping and travelling around SA and Australia. This is a big advantage and, for us, close to a must

- Has sales or retail experience, ideally within the camping, 4x4, outdoor or touring industry

- Adaptability between retail store and high paced shows and events.

- Is proactive and self-motivated, someone who spots what needs doing and gets on with it

- Is a great communicator, confident and natural talking with customers and teammates alike

- Will fit well within a small, hands-on team, reliable, easy going and pulls their weight

- Knows key SA touring destinations (Flinders Ranges, Eyre Peninsula, Coorong and beyond) from personal experience

- Is confident discussing gear and offering practical, trustworthy advice

- Has experience with brands like GME, Hema and Garmin (a bonus, not essential)

- Knowledge of metal detecting is an advantage, but not a requirement
