Our Infrastructure and Operations team delivers essential waste collection, street cleaning and public amenity services that help keep Perth clean, safe and enjoyable for residents, businesses and visitors.
The Opportunity
As a Heavy Plant Operator, you'll operate a range of specialised waste collection and street cleaning vehicles while providing high-quality services throughout the City. Reporting to the Assistant Supervisor, you'll work both independently and as part of a team to deliver efficient, safe and reliable services while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and community outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Operate a range of heavy plant and specialised vehicles, including refuse trucks, road sweepers, footpath sweepers, water trucks and front-end loaders.
- Carry out waste collection, street cleaning, litter removal and illegal dumping response activities across the City.
- Set up traffic management signage and maintain safe work sites while complying with all safety requirements.
- Complete daily operational tasks, basic reporting and equipment checks while providing professional service to the public.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who:
- Has extensive experience operating heavy plant or specialised equipment within waste, cleaning or civil operations.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace health, safety and working safely in public environments.
- Can work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
- Communicates professionally and takes pride in delivering reliable, high-quality services.
A current HR Driver's Licence is essential. You must also be physically capable of undertaking the inherent requirements of the role and be available to work weekends, public holidays and varying shifts as operationally required.
