Workfast is seeking a highly skilled and reliable Trade-Qualified On-Site Boilermaker to join a major commercial building project for the highly anticipated Hobart Hospital upgrade in Hobart, TAS. This is a crucial QA/QC role requiring the authority and expertise to test and sign off on fabrication standards.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale health infrastructure program. The project involves major commercial building construction and structural works for the hospital's expansion and upgrade. As our lead in office Boilermaker, you will be responsible for critical structural welding, fabrication, and ensuring all works meet stringent compliance codes. Long-term work is on offer for the right candidate.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Performing high-quality on-site welding, fabrication, and structural modifications.
- Conducting QA/QC testing and visual inspections on structural welds and fabricated components.
- Signing off and certifying that all work strictly complies with required Australian Standards (e.g., AS/NZS 1554).
- Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Working safely alongside multiple building and construction teams across the project.
- Maintaining a safe, organized worksite and adhering to all site protocols.
What You Need:
- Trade Qualification: (e.g.,
Cert III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade).
- Sign-off Authority: Relevant tickets/certifications required for testing, and standard compliance sign-off.
- Construction White Card - MUST.
- Previous on-site commercial building or heavy construction experience (not just workshop-based).
- Driver’s Licence / reliable transport to and from site.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
- Safety-first attitude and strong attention to detail.
