Specialist Veterinary Oncology Nurse | VRH DandenongVRH Dandenong is delighted to announce the reopening of our Oncology Department and invites experienced Veterinary Nurses to join our dedicated specialist team!
VRH is a leading, multi-disciplinary specialist referral and emergency hospital providing advanced care across Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, Anaesthesia and Oncology.
Collaboration is at the heart of our practice, with closely integrated teams working together to deliver exceptional outcomes for patients and their families.The RoleOur purpose‐built Oncology Ward is ready to recommence services.
The department will initially consist of one Specialist Oncologist supported by a highly skilled nursing team equivalent to two full‐time positions.As a Veterinary Oncology Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting oncology consultations, caring for hospitalised patients, and assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
You will be exposed to a diverse and rewarding caseload, including a high referral volume from our Emergency and Critical Care service.You will work in a highly advanced clinical setting, with access to state‐of‐the‐art diagnostic imaging facilities including MRI, CT, Endoscopy, Fluoroscopy and Ultrasound.
Close collaboration with other specialty departments will enable delivery of tailored, patient‐focused treatment plans.This position is available on a full‐time or part‐time basis.
Experienced nurses from other specialties with a robust interest in Oncology are encouraged to apply.




Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver exceptional, compassionate care to patients and clientsCoordinate daily patient care, schedules and workflowsProvide nursing care to hospitalised and post‐procedure patientsPrepare for, assist with and monitor diagnostic and therapeutic proceduresSafely prepare, administer and handle cytotoxic medicationsAssist with anaesthesia planning and patient monitoringMaintain a clean, safe and hygienic clinical environmentSupport oncology consultations, treatments and structured patient handoversAbout YouCertificate IV or Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)Minimum of 5 years' experience as a veterinary nurseStrong technical nursing skills, including anaesthesia monitoringThorough medication knowledge with strong attention to detailCalm, adaptable and professional in high‐pressure clinical settingsExcellent communication and teamwork skillsA genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient careExperience with RxWorks and Smartflow is desirable but not essentialWhat We OfferFull‐time or part‐time opportunity within a specialist Oncology serviceAbove‐award remunerationSupportive, collaborative and welcoming workplace cultureOngoing professional development and continuing educationExcellent work–life balance with set roster, no on‐call requirements, no weekends or public holidays and generous staff discounts on veterinary services and productsIf you are an experienced veterinary nurse seeking a fulfilling role within a progressive and supportive Oncology team, we would love to hear from you.
