Hornby Transport Services are seeking Heavy Vehicle Mechanics based at our Thornton depot.
Employed on a full time basis, you will be working on a up-to-date fleet of Kenworth, Western Star and Freightliner vehicles.
You will be required to complete routine scheduled services on the mentioned trucks and associated tipper, flat top and tautliner trailers, as well as attend breakdowns when required.About the roleAs a qualified mechanic you will be required to work on all makes of truck and trailers onsite or off site.
You will:Have the ability to problem solve on breakdowns and find solutions with little hesitationBe available to work Monday to Friday, and rostered Saturdays, and be available on call out (rostered).
Call-out availability for rostered duties is a mandatory requirement of this positionPredominantly we work on Kenworth, Western Star and Freightliner trucks with Cummins engines.
A person with experience on those vehicles would be preferredCompletion of scheduled services on trucks and trailersCommitment to workplace health and safetyDay and afternoon shifts availableMinimum 3+ years post-trade experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic is requiredDrivers licence (HR or above)Forklift licence (not essential but would be an advantage)Able to follow instructions and work autonomously and within a teamAttention to detail and excellent time management skillsGood written and verbal skills and ability to record all parts used correctlyPositive attitude ready to hit the ground running.Please note, only qualified mechanics that are either an Australian citizens or Permanent residents will be shortlisted.
