Position Overview
Highlander Hotel is seeking a Full-Time Cook to prepare and cook a variety of meals in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements.
The successful applicant will maintain food quality, hygiene, and safety standards while supporting the efficient operation of the commercial kitchen.
Salary
AUD 79,423 to AUD 85,000 per annum, plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities
Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality.
Prepare and cook food in accordance with recipes and menu requirements.
Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking equipment.
Season food during preparation and cooking.
Portion food and present meals with sauces and garnishes.
Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and monitor food preservation and stock rotation.
Prepare meals to accommodate special dietary requirements.
Assist with menu planning and estimating food requirements.
Monitor stock levels and advise on ingredient requirements.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
Assist in training junior kitchen staff where required.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant should possess:
AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent overseas qualification.
At least one year of relevant post-qualification experience, or equivalent industry experience.
Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook a wide range of dishes in a commercial kitchen.
Knowledge of food preparation techniques, portion control, and presentation.
Sound understanding of food safety,



sanitation, and HACCP principles.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
Flexibility to work rotating rosters, including weekends and public holidays.
