We're looking for an experienced legal leader to join our Legal team as Head of Legal – Platforms, providing strategic legal advice across our platform products and helping shape the future of our business.Reporting to the Managing Legal Counsel – Superannuation and Platforms, you'll lead the legal strategy for our platform products, partnering closely with Executive leaders, Trustee Boards and senior stakeholders to manage legal risk while enabling innovation and commercial outcomes.About the roleThis is a highly visible leadership role with end-to-end ownership of legal matters impacting our platform products, including MLC Expand, IDPS and Managed Discretionary Accounts (MDAs).
You'll provide commercially pragmatic legal advice across the full product lifecycle, influencing strategic business decisions while ensuring our products continue to meet legal and regulatory obligations and deliver positive outcomes for members and clients.Key responsibilitiesYou'll lead legal advice across a broad range of platform matters, including:Product design, enhancements, closures and strategic product initiativesProduct Disclosure Statements (PDSs), Significant Event Notices (SENs), disclosure obligations and marketing communicationsDesign and Distribution Obligations (DDO) and Target Market Determinations (TMDs)Retail insurance arrangements, insurer negotiations and administration agreementsAFCA matters and member complaintsRegulatory change impacting platform productsLegal advice on incidents,



breaches and governance mattersProduct funding initiativesCustody arrangements, omnibus accounts and investment mandatesNegotiation of key platform and service provider agreementsMajor platform transactions, migrations and strategic projectsLeading, developing and mentoring a team of legal professionals while building capability across the functionAbout youYou'll be a senior legal skilled who combines exceptional technical expertise with commercial judgement and the ability to build trusted relationships across the business.You'll bring:A Bachelor of Laws and current legal practising qualifications10+ years' experience within financial services, with significant experience across superannuation, platforms or investmentsDeep knowledge of the Australian financial services with a focus on superannuation, investments and platforms regulatory environmentStrong technical expertise across legal issues affecting platform products and structuresProven ability to influence senior executives and provide commercially focused legal adviceExperience leading, developing and mentoring high-performing legal teamsStrong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisationExperience managing external legal advisers and negotiating commercial outcomesThe ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver high-quality advice in a fast-paced, evolving environmentApplicants will be required to provide evidence of their eligibility to work in Australia, and at a minimum be required to undertake police and basic credit checks as a condition of employment.Please note that applications from agencies will not be considered at this time.We acknowledge and celebrate the richness that individual differences bring to our team.
