We're looking for an experienced legal leader to join our team to provide strategic legal leadership across our retail Master Trust and employer superannuation products.Reporting to the Managing Legal Counsel – Superannuation and Platforms, you'll have end-to-end ownership of legal risk across these products, partnering with Trustee Boards, Executive leaders and business stakeholders to deliver high quality legal support to ensure our products and trustees comply with relevant legal obligations and deliver positive member outcomes.About the roleThis is a senior leadership opportunity responsible for the legal oversight of our retail Master Trust and employer superannuation products.
You'll provide commercially focused legal advice across the full product lifecycle while supporting strategic initiatives, regulatory change and governance across one of Australia's leading superannuation businesses.You'll also lead and develop a team of legal professionals, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.Key responsibilitiesIn this role, you'll provide strategic legal advice across:Product design, enhancements, successor fund transfers (SFTs), closures and ongoing product initiativesProduct Disclosure Statements (PDSs), Significant Event Notices (SENs), disclosure obligations and marketing communicationsDesign and Distribution Obligations (DDO) and Target Market Determinations (TMDs)Regulatory change impacting retail Master Trust and employer superannuation productsIncident and breach triage,
escalation and legal risk managementDefault group insurance arrangements, insurer negotiations, contract renewals and administration agreementsSPS 250 compliance and insurance governanceAFCA matters and member complaintsTrust law matters, family law matters and product funding initiativesRSE Licence (RSEL) delegation policies and governanceLeading, mentoring and developing a high-performing legal team while driving capability across the functionAbout youYou're a commercially minded legal leader with deep expertise in superannuation law and a passion for partnering with the business to deliver practical, risk-based solutions.You'll bring:A Bachelor of Laws and current legal practising qualifications10+ years' experience in a senior legal role within the superannuation or financial services sectorStrong expertise in trust law and the Australian superannuation regulatory frameworkExtensive experience advising on legal issues affecting retail Master Trust and employer superannuation productsDemonstrated ability to influence senior executives and provide commercially pragmatic legal adviceProven leadership experience, with a track record of developing and mentoring legal teamsExcellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisationExperience managing external legal advisers and third party stakeholders and negotiating complex commercial outcomesThe ability to balance competing priorities and deliver high-quality advice in a rapid-paced, highly regulated environmentApplicants will be required to provide evidence of their eligibility to work in Australia, and at a minimum be required to undertake police and basic credit checks as a condition of employment.Please note that applications from agencies will not be considered at this time.We acknowledge and celebrate the richness that individual differences bring to our team.
