BCEI Australia Pty Limited – Melbourne VICAs a Preconstruction Manager, you will play a crucial role in our project from initial design, all the way through the construction phase.
You will work with internal and external team members to create project budgets, tender packages, and schedules to ensure the successful delivery of mission critical projects.Key ResponsibilitiesReview all correspondence, documentation and information in accordance with BCEI standards relating to the Tender/RFP process prior to distributing subcontractors/vendors.Coordinate with Engineers and Construction Managers to develop project specific scope sheetsConduct and manage recurring preconstruction meetings to ensure that project deadlines are metHost constructability review meetings with internal and external team members throughout the design processManage, track, and resolve all constructability issues throughout the preconstruction phaseManage the creation of detailed MEP focused tender packages to prospective biddersCollaborate and manage equipment RFP for equipment vendorsInvestigate and research market areas to identify qualified subcontractor partnersCollaborate with internal team members to successfully onboard new subcontractorsOversee the project RFI process during the preconstruction phaseManage the submittal process with internal and external team members during the preconstruction phaseIdentify value engineering and cost-saving initiatives without compromising project qualityEvaluate and analyze subcontractor/vendor proposals for "best value" recommendations to the project teamBuild relationships with subcontractors and design consultantsLead subcontractor scope review meetings with the project teamManage the development of project schedules with the project scheduler and construction teamCreate project budgets/estimates at key design milestones (25%, 50%, 90%, 100% construction documents)Lead the project transition from the preconstruction to construction phase with the project teamSupport the Construction Managers in coordination of the subcontractor award processTraining and mentoring of Procurement ManagersCoordinate construction contract details with internal legal and project manager teamTalent ProfileBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related experience5-10+ years of relevant experience with a background in MEP construction.Robust problem-solving skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and resolve document-related challenges promptly.Solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and processes, with the ability to interpret project plans and specifications accurately.Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.Proficient with Microsoft OfficeExcellent analytical and organizational skillsAvailable for occasional travelWorks productively in a high-pressure workplace
