About the role
Position: Laboratory Scientist (Grade1/2 Scientist (RX1-RY7)).
Fixed term until 3/9/2027 – 64 Hours Per Fortnight.
Part of the Core Laboratory (Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Transfusion and limited Molecular Microbiology) across New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital laboratories.
This position may also require rotations to the Prahran laboratory, especially for training and continuous career development.
The role involves processing of routine and urgent specimens according to laboratory procedures and issuing pathology results across various departments of the core laboratory.
It also requires participation in a 24/7 rotating roster and an on‐call roster afterhours.
About you




Bachelor's degree in science, Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent is required.
Experience working in a multi‐skilled laboratory i.e., Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Transfusion Laboratory.
Previous experience with troubleshooting automated laboratory analysers.
Demonstrated verbal, written communication and organisational skills.
Computer proficiency and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
ClassC driver's license and willingness to travel to the various WH and Prahran sites as needed.
Experience performing blood film morphology.

Health Service Vaccination Policy
