Summary
Our client is seeking an Estimator / Tendering Engineer to take ownership of costing and pricing for the manufacture and repair of whitemetal (babbitt) bearings and precision-machined components.
This role is critical in determining our true manufacturing cost and advising sell prices to ensure profitable, competitive quotations.
You will act as the key link between sales, engineering, and production-turning technical enquiries into commercially sound opportunities.

What You'll Do




The Estimator / Tendering Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and advising sell prices across recent manufacture, refurbishment, and repair work.
You will ensure all quotations reflect true production requirements and align with company capability and commercial objectives.

What You'll Bring
Trade or engineering qualification (Mechanical, Fitting & Turning, or similar)
3+ years' experience in estimating
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
Solid commercial awareness with strong numerical and analytical skills
Experience with ERP/MRP systems
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Experience with whitemetal (babbitt) bearings or bearing repair processes
Knowledge of rotating equipment (turbines, pumps, compressors)
Exposure to subcontract processes (heat treatment, NDT, coatings)
Experience in job costing or tendering environments
