Head Trainer, Dermal Therapy and Laser (Trainer and Assessor)
Head Trainer, Dermal Therapy and Laser (Trainer and Assessor)
Aspire Training Clinics, Crows Nest | Full time, permanent | On-site
If you are the dermal therapist that everyone goes to for mentoring and support and you love training students and those who teach them, this is the role where that becomes the job description.
Aspire Training Clinics runs the clinical training environment for the Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science (AACDS), one of four registered training organisations in Demi Education Group.
Students train on real clients, under supervision, on the same devices they will use in practice.
We are looking for a Head Trainer to lead the day-to-day delivery of that training and to lead the people who deliver it.
This is a senior clinical and training role.
You will still be in the room, still treating, still teaching.
You will also be the person the trainer team looks to for a call on technique, protocol and scope.
What you will be doing
Delivering theory and practical training across the full Aspire scope: IPL and laser hair removal, IPL and laser photo rejuvenation, skin needling, RF micro-needling, non-ablative fractionated laser, AHA peels, Jessner and TCA peels, and microdermabrasion
Supervising students on live clients in the training clinic, with responsibility for client and student safety
Mentoring and coaching a team of 16 trainers and assessors, including observation and moderation of their delivery
Being the first point of escalation for clinical, technical and assessment questions, and knowing what to send up the line
Working with the Training Manager on validation of assessment tools, currency of learning resources, and consistent application of training and assessment strategies
Inducting new trainers and getting them to independent delivery
Spotting where a resource,
tool or protocol is not working in practice and saying so
Travelling periodically to deliver or support training at our Queensland and Western Australia locations
You report to the Training Manager, who holds overall compliance and strategic accountability across AACDS and Aspire.
You operate with delegated authority and deputise for them on day-to-day training matters.
What you need
These are genuine requirements, not a wish list:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE*****, or TAE***** plus the required upgrade units).
You need this on day one
A relevant dermal or aesthetics qualification, such as a Diploma of Beauty Therapy, Graduate Diploma of Dermal Therapies or Dermal Science, or equivalent
Current, hands-on experience across every modality listed above. Not a subset.
You will be training and assessing all of them
Laser user licensing. You either hold current licensing in Queensland and Western Australia, or you are eligible to obtain it.
We fund and support the applications
Experience mentoring or supervising other practitioners, trainers or assessors
Current First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain both before you start
What will make you stand out
Previous work as a lead trainer, senior trainer or team leader inside an RTO
Practical experience with assessment validation and improving learning resources
Working knowledge of the Standards for RTOs and how they apply at the point of delivery
Membership of a professional body such as the Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians
What we offer
Demi Education Group operates six campuses and Aspire clinics in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast.
We fund ongoing professional development, including device and modality training, so that your clinical currency stays genuinely current rather than becoming a compliance tick.
This role is fully on-site at our Crows Nest clinic.
Training happens in the clinic, so we are upfront that this is not a role with work-from-home days.
