Language Disorder Australia – Fig Tree Pocket QLD
Role:
Secondary Teacher
Status:
Full Time
Role Commencing:
Term ******
Location:
Mancel College | Fig Tree Pocket, Brisbane
Language Disorder Australia currently has a fantastic opportunity available for a Teacher at Mancel College.
At Mancel College, we believe that every young person deserves to be seen for their potential, not their limitations. We're looking for a teacher who can make enterprise, innovation and real-world problem solving meaningful, someone who can turn concepts into practical understanding and help students see how businesses, communities and economies operate. You'll design lessons that are engaging, relevant and adapted to meet students where they are, encouraging them to think critically, make decisions and understand the systems that shape the world around them.
Our learners are curious, capable, and hungry for connection, but many arrive with a history of misunderstanding or missed opportunity due to Language Disorder and cooccurring disabilities. You help students connect business ideas to real life scenarios, building confidence in financial literacy, planning and entrepreneurial thinking.
Teaching here is different, small class sizes, strong in class support, and an embedded multidisciplinary allied health team. You'll be part of a collaborative staff culture grounded in relationships, reflection and skilled growth.
We're looking for someone who wants to do more than teach, someone who wants to belong to something that matters. If you value connection, purpose, and the power of education to shift trajectories, we would love to hear from you.
What You Will Do
As a member of our Senior School
Teaching Team,
you will:
Deliver engaging, differentiated Business/Accounting/Economics/English lessons that build students' understanding and skills
Design learning experiences that help students apply concepts to real world scenarios and develop practical problem-solving skills
Understand the unique needs of neurodiverse students with Language Disorder and co-occurring disabilities, and embed a neuro-affirming and strengths based approach to support them
Design differentiated strategies that empower students academically, socially, and personally, ensuring their safety, voice, and agency are upheld
Collaborate with allied health professionals, teachers,

school assistants and leadership as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated, student-centred support
Maintain a structured, inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged
Work closely with families to build trust, maintain transparency, and support each student's progress and wellbeing
Engage in ongoing professional learning, reflection, and collaboration to continually improve your practice and impact
What you will NOT be doing:
Working in isolation. You'll be supported by a multidisciplinary team and a collaborative staff culture
Delivering rigid, textbook-based instruction. You'll bring your subject areas to life through quality differentiated teaching, real-world connections, and student-responsive learning
Lowering expectations. You'll provide high challenge and high support so that every student can achieve success
Reinforcing deficit thinking. Your role is to believe in every student's potential and advocate for their progress
Waiting for change to happen. You'll be part of a team that is actively reimagining how education can work, for teachers and students
What You Will Bring
Teaching qualifications and current QCT registration
Experience and confidence teaching Senior School Business, Accounting, Economics or English
A learner-centred, inclusive approach to education and a passion for building student confidence
Strong communication skills and the ability to build authentic relationships with students, colleagues, and families
