Working closely within a small but busy Property team, this position is fundamental to ensuring the success of the College's environmental programs, on country and as part of the educational program.
The Position
This position reports to the Property Manager and the Team Leader (Grounds) and will work closely with other members of the small but busy Property team.
This position has the potential to be an apprenticeship or experienced position. We are looking for the right person to join our team.
The position is a full time, permanent position working 38 hours per week and attracts four weeks Annual Leave and four Rostered Days Off per year.
Responsibilities
As a member of the College staff the Property staff are committed to the aims and philosophy of the College.
The Property team is a small, dynamic group who work collaboratively in a busy environment that is changing as the College goes through a significant growth phase in its operation.
Duty Statement
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited, to the following:
Ensure the College grounds are tidy
Contribute to managing the College waste systems
Work with the wider Property team on the maintenance of the College buildings and grounds
Attending to general maintenance and property requests as required by the needs of the College
Landscaping
Line marking and field set out
Undertake daily requirements in the Cornish College Ecocentre
Work with teaching staff to help support both the EcoKids program and Sustainable Land Management classes
Regular use of machinery such as tractor, mowers, chain saws, blowers, hedge trimmers and line trimmers, line markers

The successful candidate will also ideally demonstrate the following attributes:
Able to work in a team and independently
Initiative and exceptional organisational skills
Proactive and enthusiastic
An all-round ability to deal with a variety of tasks
Enjoys working as part of a small but busy team
Enjoys working with the whole community, including parents, staff and students
Demonstrates a courteous manner towards all members of the Cornish College community.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience working in a similar setting, whilst not essential would be an advantage
Experience in using machinery such as mowers, chain saws, blowers, hedge trimmers and line trimmers
Knowledge of aquaponics systems, while not essential, is an advantage
Current Working with Children Check for Employment purposes
Current Police Check will be required on employment
