The Opportunity
As a GP Anaesthetist, you will provide safe, high-quality anaesthetic and perioperative care across a broad range of surgical specialties.
You will work closely with surgeons, physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to deliver patient-centred care before,
during, and after surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Provide anaesthetic and perioperative services across elective and emergency procedures
Conduct pre-anaesthetic assessments and post-operative reviews
Deliver safe anaesthetic care with continuous patient monitoring
Participate in a 24/7 emergency anaesthetic roster
Support emergency surgery and critical care responses
Provide procedural expertise including airway management and vascular access
Participate in Medical Emergency Team (MET) and Code Blue responses
Supervise anaesthetic trainees and junior staff where appropriate
Support recovery room and day surgery services
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
Participate in quality improvement, education, and service development initiatives

Requirements
Medical qualifications registrable with AHPRA
Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)
Accreditation through the Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA)
Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
Demonstrated experience in anaesthesia and critical care medicine
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development
Final-year GP Registrars with suitable anaesthetic training and experience may also be considered.
