Rowing Victoria is seeking a dynamic and relationship-focused
Communications and Member Engagement Coordinator
to help strengthen the connection between our organisation, member clubs, volunteers, participants and key stakeholders across Victorian rowing.
This diverse and hands-on role combines strategic communications, digital content, club development and major event promotion. You will lead Rowing Victoria's communications across its website, email marketing, social media and external media opportunities, ensuring timely, engaging and relevant information reaches the right audiences.
Working closely with member clubs, volunteers, staff and industry partners, you will support clubs to grow participation, strengthen governance and compliance, build organisational capability, and create secure, inclusive and enjoyable environments. You will also coordinate communications for some of Victorian rowing's most significant events, including the Victorian Rowing Championships, Victorian Masters Championships, leading school regattas, and the Annual Awards and Hall of Fame evening.
This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive communications professional who enjoys building relationships, managing varied projects and using compelling content to increase participation, engagement and awareness. The successful candidate will bring strong written and interpersonal communication skills, sound digital capability, attention to detail and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting community sport.
General Duties
Communications
Planning, developing and managing Rowing Victoria's annual communications plan across the website,



EDMs and social media platforms, as well as opportunities for third party promotion. Ensuring the right messages are delivered to the right stakeholders at the right time.
Update and maintain the RV website.
Work closely with the Member Clubs to support and activate media and communication opportunities for key stakeholders and events.
Monitor and report on key media coverage that is relevant to the organisation.
Manage communications relationships with all stakeholders related to the Victorian Rowing Team, Rowing Australia and key stakeholders and partners
Work with the Rowing Victoria staff to provide regular reports and updates.
Manage the preparation of the Rowing Victoria Annual Report and presentations where required.
Proactively identify improvements for RV across its media and communications to grow reach and engagement.
Member Engagement
Support the grassroots rowing clubs and volunteers to ensure they are growing their clubs: developing inclusive, safe and enjoyable environments, and they have basic capacity to promote participation that then drives active and healthy lifestyles.
Build the capacity of rowing clubs through the state to in making strong contributions to developing positive and flexible organisational cultures.




Support the implementation of programs for clubs to improve their overall governance and compliance requirements with RV and partnership with our community partners.
Provide administrative support to the organisation and Member Clubs; ensuring member and volunteer databases are maintained and complete.
Assist in developing, building and maintaining strong relationships with Member Clubs and stakeholders to assist in ensuring Member Clubs are aware of legislative, governance and educational requirements and funding opportunities through high quality professional communication.
Identify key issues, service gaps, and service development opportunities.
Collect reporting data and maintain reporting tools in Excel, Word, MS Teams and other required systems.
Investigate and be aware of sport & volunteering participation opportunities and trends through the state.
Respond in a professional, helpful and timely manner to Member Club and community inquiries as authorised.
Develop report templates and other program promotion material in MS Office 365, Mailchimp, social media and/or other related software.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Events
Prepare and deliver the communications plans for major RV events to maximise the publicity and awareness of the event, host club and RV. Core events include, the Victorian Rowing Championships, Victorian Master's Championships and leading school regattas.
Plan all communications for the Annual Awards and Hall of Fame evening including the scripts, run sheets, required video content and speech writing.
