Full-Time Fire Protection Equipment Technician
Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000 per annum plus superannuation

About the role The Passive Fire Protection Equipment Technician is responsible for ensuring that all passive fire containment systems are correctly installed, inspected, tested, and maintained in strict compliance with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and applicable Australian Standards, primarily AS ****.
The role involves working with a variety of passive fire systems, including but not limited to fire-rated batts, wraps, mastic, collars, seals, fire doors, smoke doors, and fire shutters. Duties and Responsibilities
Install, repair, and maintain passive fire containment systems, including fire-rated batts, wraps, mastic, collars, seals, fire/smoke doors,
and shutters.
Ensure all installations and maintenance works are executed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, the BCA, and relevant Australian Standards.
Select and apply appropriate fire-stopping materials for various penetrations and construction joints.
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance testing of passive fire protection systems in accordance with AS ****.
Assess the integrity of fire compartments, fire doors, smoke doors, and fire shutters.
Identify, diagnose, and report on defects, non-conformances, or compromised fire separations.
Perform necessary rectification and repair works on non-compliant passive fire systems to restore full regulatory compliance.
Provide technical recommendations for the upgrade or replacement of obsolete or irreparably damaged passive fire infrastructure.
Accurately complete and submit service reports, logbooks, defect notices, and compliance certificates in a timely manner.
Maintain comprehensive digital and physical records of all inspections, tests, and rectification works using the company's designated field service management software.
Capture and upload explicit photographic evidence of pre- and post-rectification works.
Ensure the correct use, maintenance, and storage of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), tools, and company vehicles.
Essential Skills
Comprehensive understanding of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and AS **** as they relate to passive fire protection.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from architectural drawings, engineering plans, and fire matrix schedules.
High level of attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex compliance issues on-site.
Proficiency in using mobile technology (tablets/smartphones) and field service management software for reporting and documentation.
Excellent time management skills with the capacity to work autonomously and manage a daily schedule of site visits.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications needed:
Minimum Certificate III level or equivalent relevant work experience
Minimum one year of work experience on relevant position
