We are seeking a skilled Radio Communications Technician to lead the installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of two-way and business radio systems.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission and maintain Motorola MOTOTRBO DMR infrastructure including SLR series repeaters, conventional, IP Site Connect, Capacity Plus and Linked Capacity Plus configurations.
Program, template, and manage subscriber fleets (portables and mobiles) using Radio Management / CPS, including fleetmaps, encryption, and firmware management.
Install and commission in-building coverage systems: distributed antenna systems (DAS), bi-directional amplifiers (BDAs), off-air and fibre-fed repeaters, leaky feeder, and passive RF distribution (splitters, couplers, combiners).
Perform coverage walk testing, signal surveys and grid measurements; document results and produce coverage reports to support handover and compliance certification.
Diagnose and rectify faults across RF, IP networking and power subsystems on site and remotely; escalate per service desk procedures and maintain accurate service records.
Assist sales engineering with site surveys, path/coverage assessments and bill-of-materials input for tenders and quotes.
Participate in the on-call/after-hours support roster.
Trade qualification or equivalent experience in radio communications, electronics or telecommunications (e.g. Certificate III/IV in Telecommunications or Electronics).
Demonstrated hands-on experience with Motorola MOTOTRBO DMR systems, including repeater commissioning and subscriber programming; Capacity Plus and/or Linked Capacity Plus experience highly regarded.
Experience installing or maintaining in-building coverage systems (DAS, BDA, leaky feeder) including antenna placement, passive RF component installation and coverage verification.
Working knowledge of IP networking as applied to radio systems (VLANs, static addressing, multicast basics) sufficient to commission linked sites and dispatch connectivity.
Current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel to regional client sites, including occasional overnight stays.
Ability to obtain and maintain client site clearances, inductions and background checks (including police check) as required for critical infrastructure sites.
Physically capable of site work including working at heights, structured cabling and in plant environments.
