About us
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is the independent prosecuting authority responsible for the prosecution of all serious indictable offences committed against the laws of New South Wales. We are an agency of over **** staff, working throughout NSW to service the main court centres. Our 10 offices have a mix of Crown Prosecutors, Solicitor Advocates, Solicitors and support staff.

The Role
The ODPP is seeking a First Nations Community Engagement Officer to deliver inclusive community engagement activities that strengthen relationships between the ODPP and First Nations communities throughout NSW.
The role supports the ODPP's commitments under the Closing the Gap framework, First Nations Strategy and First Nations Employment Strategy through community engagement, employment pathway initiatives and stakeholder partnerships. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will design and deliver effective community engagement activities and initiatives to ensure communities within NSW are informed about the ODPP's role,



the Witness Assistance Services, legal processes and career opportunities.
This opportunity is available at any of our 10 offices statewide: Campbelltown, Dubbo, Gosford, Lismore, Newcastle, Parramatta, Penrith, Wagga Wagga, Wollongong, or Sydney. Travel throughout NSW will be required.
Key accountabilities
Coordinate projects and provide administrative support, including preparing briefs, reports and correspondence, maintaining documentation and supporting engagement plans.
Support the implementation of First Nations employment initiatives, projects and strategies.
Prepare and maintain culturally appropriate documentation, reporting and evaluation materials to support engagement outcomes and strategic initiatives.
Plan and participate in community events, forums, outreach activities and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
Collect, analyse and report on qualitative and quantitative data to monitor outcomes and identify emerging issues and trends.
Undertake research and analysis to support evidence-based planning, recommendations and decision-making.
About you
Identify as and be accepted in your local community as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. This is an identified position.
Understand the diverse cultural needs of First Nations communities in NSW and how these may relate to victims in a legal or criminal justice setting.
Demonstrated experience working within First Nations communities in NSW.
Education or experience in a relevant field such as project management, legal services,



community services or a related discipline.
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
Proven ability to coordinate projects, manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes.
Willingness and ability to travel throughout NSW.
