I'm in the Right is a growing Australian-owned accident management company helping not-at-fault drivers get back on the road quickly and with minimal disruption.
We're creating a new senior role to strengthen how we manage the commercial performance of one of our largest assets, our vehicle fleet.
This is not a day-to-day fleet operations role. As Head of Fleet Asset Strategy, you will focus on asset strategy, procurement, lifecycle planning, supplier partnerships, remarketing and long-term return on fleet assets, working closely with our Head of Fleet and Fleet Operations team.
About the Opportunity
We're looking for a commercially robust fleet, leasing, rental or automotive leader to establish our Fleet Asset Strategy function from the ground up. This will be a hands-on role initially, with no direct reports, where you will personally lead the strategy, analysis and execution before building the capability and team required to scale.
Reporting to the General Manager – Operations & Fleet, you will develop and execute the asset strategy from acquisition through to disposal, partnering with Fleet Operations, Finance and senior leadership to improve commercial outcomes.
Your immediate focus will be strengthening procurement capability, OEM relationships and purchasing strategy. Over time, you will help optimise profitability, utilisation, residual values and return on assets across the fleet portfolio.
This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, building capability, improving commercial governance and using data to influence strategic asset decisions.
What You'll Do
Fleet Strategy & Lifecycle Management
Develop the fleet asset strategy across acquisition, utilisation, replacement and disposal, while Fleet Operations continues to manage day-to-day fleet activity.
Optimise vehicle lifecycle decisions to maximise profitability and return on assets.
Lead strategic planning and replacement forecasting aligned to business growth, capital planning and operational demand.
Identify opportunities to improve asset utilisation, cost performance and capital efficiency.
Procurement & OEM Management
Lead acquisition strategy across OEMs, dealer groups,



auctions and vehicle suppliers.
Build and manage strategic OEM and supplier relationships.
Negotiate pricing, rebates, volume agreements and commercial partnerships.
Improve purchasing outcomes through market intelligence, forecasting and supplier management.
Define and execute fleet disposal and remarketing strategies.
Optimise resale performance across wholesale, retail, auction and consignment channels.
Monitor market conditions and adjust disposal strategies to maximise residual value outcomes.
Build strategic partnerships that improve disposal performance and value recovery.
Commercial Performance & Analytics
Develop reporting and analytics that provide insight across the fleet lifecycle.
Monitor acquisition costs, depreciation, utilisation, residual values and return on assets.
Deliver commercial recommendations supported by data and financial modelling.
Support business planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and commercial decision-making.
Implement automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve asset performance and decision quality.
Establish governance frameworks and performance metrics that support scalable growth.
Leadership & Capability Building
Establish and lead the Fleet Asset Strategy function from the ground up, initially as a hands-on individual contributor with no direct reports.
Partner closely with the Head of Fleet, Fleet Operations, Finance and Executive Leadership to align asset strategy with operational requirements.
Define future capability, structure and resourcing requirements as the function matures.
Build a specialist commercial and analytical team over time to support asset strategy as the function scales.
About You
You'll likely come from a large rental, leasing, fleet management,



automotive or transportation environment where you have held senior responsibilities across acquisitions, lifecycle management, supplier partnerships and remarketing.
We're looking for someone who brings:
At least 8–10 years' experience across vehicle procurement, fleet planning, lifecycle management and remarketing.
Strong OEM, dealer and supplier networks, ideally developed over 5+ years in a fleet, leasing, automotive or related commercial environment.
Demonstrated success negotiating complex commercial agreements, with 5+ years' experience managing supplier, OEM or dealer partnerships.
Exceptional commercial acumen and financial literacy.
Strong experience using data and analytics to drive business decisions.
A track record of improving performance, building capability and influencing senior stakeholders, with experience building or scaling teams viewed favourably.
The ability to operate strategically while staying hands-on and close enough to execution to drive outcomes.
Most importantly, you will understand how acquisition decisions influence utilisation, operating costs, residual values and disposal outcomes, and you will know how to optimise the full fleet lifecycle.
