We're partnering with a growing specialist insurer based in North Sydney that is investing heavily in its people, technology and future growth. Due to continued business expansion, they are seeking an Underwriter to join their collaborative and high-performing team.
This prospect is ideal for someone already working within underwriting, or an insurance professional from claims, broking or a related insurance background looking to transition into underwriting and accelerate their career.
The Opportunity
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of business while building strong broker relationships and developing your technical underwriting capability.
Key responsibilities include:
Assessing and underwriting new business, renewals and policy amendments
Building and maintaining strong broker relationships
Managing risks in line with underwriting guidelines and authority levels
Preparing quotations and policy documentation
Working closely with senior underwriters and technical specialists
Contributing to business growth and portfolio performance
Collaborating across underwriting, claims and operational teams
This position offers exposure across the full underwriting lifecycle and the opportunity to develop broader technical and commercial expertise.
About You
We're open to candidates with:
Underwriting experience within general insurance




Claims experience with an interest in transitioning into underwriting
Insurance broking experience
Insurance administration or assistant underwriting experience
Exposure to property, motor, agricultural or commercial insurance
You'll be someone who:
Enjoys building relationships and working with brokers
Has strong commercial judgement and attention to detail
Is proactive, curious and eager to learn
Enjoys solving problems and thinking outside the box
