EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.
About the Opportunity
Our EnergyCo NSW Communications and Media team is currently seeking to appoint a Director Media and Communications to lead our media management and overall external communication functions for the EnergyCo, including working closely with ministerial offices, leading the corporate communications strategy, media liaison, social media strategy and management, EnergyCo website, branding, public relations, marketing, campaigns and events.
The Director provides strategic advice to the Office of the Minister, the Chief Executive and the EnergyCo leadership team and collaborates closely with other communications specialists across the network of agencies and Renewable Energy Zones delivery partners.
The role leads a community of practice for engagement and communications across EnergyCo's staff, contracted specialists and service providers to enable successful overall communications activities across the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap.
There is occasional after hours work and on-call expectations as well as occasional regional travel.
About You
You are a seasoned communications leader with extensive experience in strategic communications,



media relations, marketing and reputation management. You bring a strong track record advising senior executives and Ministerial offices, providing confident leadership through high-profile issues, media scrutiny and crisis situations.
A highly capable people leader, you have successfully built, led and developed high-performing teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and accountability. You are an exceptional writer and storyteller, able to translate complex technical, policy and project information into clear, compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences.
You excel in fast-paced, politically sensitive environments, balancing competing priorities while delivering strategic outcomes. With outstanding stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship management skills, you build trusted partnerships across government, industry, media and communities, helping to manage risk, strengthen reputation and drive positive public outcomes.
Essential Requirements
Tertiary qualification in a communications or related discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent experience
