Psychologist or AMHSW | Established Caseload | Spring Hill
If you've ever wanted a private practice role that feels genuinely supportive, Excel Psychology might be what you're looking for. We're a friendly, settled team in Spring Hill with beautiful consulting rooms, strong admin support, and the kind of workplace where people actually have lunch together. Over the past year we have seen a 45% increase in current client referrals, and we are expanding our team to meet that demand.
Are you a registered Psychologist (General or Clinical) or an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) looking for a well-established, flexible, and genuinely supportive workplace? Excel Psychology has been providing high-quality psychological care to adults in Brisbane's inner city for 13 years. We have a close-knit team of experienced clinicians and a dedicated full-time administration team, and we are growing.
What We Offer
A supportive, collegial environment where professional input is valued and staff longevity is high.
A well-established referral base (GPs, WorkCover, NGOs) with a diverse adult caseload (age 16+) and real opportunities to develop your areas of clinical interest.
Access to Board Approved Supervision on-site. Our principal psychologist is a Board Approved Supervisor with 20 years experience as a psychologist.
Experienced administrative support, with our team handling client enquiries, scheduling, Medicare and billing, payment follow-up, and WorkCover and NDIS paperwork, so you can focus entirely on your clients.
Flexible scheduling, with the option to choose days and hours that work for you, including optional early morning, evening, or weekend sessions.
Beautifully appointed, comfortably sized consulting rooms designed for privacy, comfort, and a calm therapeutic environment.
A Spring Hill location close to Central Station and bus routes,
with cafes and amenities on the doorstep, without the stress of the CBD.
Opportunities for professional development and mentoring.
A culture genuinely committed to equitable access to mental health care. We hold a small number of bulk-billing and concession places for clients who would not otherwise be able to access support, and we ask all clinicians to contribute to this as part of our shared social justice values.
Remuneration
This is a percentage fee-for-service arrangement, commencing at 60% of billings with a 1% increase over time to a maximum of 65%. This means you retain 60% to 65% of every session fee billed, with the remaining amount covering practice overheads including administration, rooms, billing support, and referral development.
Running a private practice comes with a lot of moving parts that have nothing to do with therapy. Our full-time administration team handles all of it: client enquiries, scheduling, Medicare and billing, payment follow-up, WorkCover and NDIS paperwork, and everything else that would otherwise eat into your time and headspace. You show up, do the clinical work you trained for, and we take care of the rest.
Please note that GST applies to the practice service fee as required by the ATO, and we are happy to walk you through exactly how this works at interview.
Based on realistic billing volumes, clinicians at Excel Psychology typically earn in the range of $150,000 to $180,000 FTE (Registered Psychologist)
or $180,000 to $217,000 FTE (Clinical Psychologist), pro-rata for part-time arrangements. This role is available from 2 days per week.
About the Role
This role offers the opportunity to work with adult clients (age 16+) under Mental Health Treatment Plans, WorkCover, NDIS, and private-payment arrangements. You will be supported to shape a caseload that aligns with your clinical interests, work autonomously, and contribute to a collaborative team culture. A minimum commitment of two days per week is required.
Clinicians with experience in EMDR are preferred, though not essential. Those with experience in ADHD and ASD assessments or independent court reports are also particularly welcome.
What We Require
ABN and professional indemnity insurance
Strong communication and organisational skills
A commitment to ongoing professional development
A willingness to hold a small number of bulk-billing or concession places in line with our social justice values
Credential Requirements
Applicants must hold either AHPRA registration as a Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist, or AASW accreditation as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) with Medicare provider eligibility. Please note we are unable to consider counsellors or provisional psychologists at this time.
How to Apply
Please send your CV, a brief cover letter (maximum one page), contact details for two referees, and your preferred work days to ******. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
We warmly welcome applications from clinicians at all career stages.
