Job Description
About the Position
We are looking for an energetic, engaging, and friendly Engagement Officer to join our Deadly Sista Girlz team. This is a full time fixed term position at St Mary's College in Broome. This role is central to building strong relationships with students, delivering engaging sessions, and supporting attendance and participation in school and program activities.
As an Engagement Officer, you will mentor students, run workshop sessions, and help develop strategies that improve school attendance and engagement. You will work closely in partnership with the Student Support Officer to ensure students have wraparound support, clear pathways, and consistent follow ‐ up.

While school‐based roles benefit from structured school‐holiday downtime, we expect high levels of reliability, communication, and engagement during school term delivery. This ensures consistent engagement and meaningful support for students in achieving their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Positively engage and mentor young First Nations women
Deliver engaging, culturally responsive sessions and activities




Support school attendance and actively participate in attendance strategies
Build strong relationships with school staff, families, and community
Work closely with the Student Support Officer to coordinate support
Identify emerging student needs and contribute to intervention plans
Promote a culturally safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
Uphold WHS, wellbeing, and risk management processes
Represent the program with professionalism and cultural integrity
What We're Looking For
Experience working with young people in education, sport, youth work, or community services
Solid understanding of First Nations cultures and community connections
Confident in engaging groups and leading youth activities
Passion for building confidence, identity, and wellbeing in young women
Reliable, proactive, and able to maintain strong communication
Ability to work collaboratively with schools, families, and internal staff
Culturally sensitive approach to leadership and mentoring

Essential requirements include holding or the ability to obtain:
'C' class driver's licence
Working With Children Check
Education Department clearance
