Following significant contract awards across our Australia/New Zealand Water business, AECOM's Water Infrastructure team is seeking a Director, Process Engineering - Wastewater to join our global team of water process engineering specialists.
Based in Melbourne, this is a rare prospect to take a leading technical role within a high-performing team delivering some of the region's most important water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
You'll bring deep process engineering expertise and a passion for solving complex challenges, helping clients deliver sustainable, efficient and innovative treatment solutions. Working across multidisciplinary project teams, you'll influence project outcomes,



shape technical approaches and support the continued growth of AECOM's water capability.
This role is ideal for an experienced wastewater leader who enjoys combining technical excellence with client engagement, business development and mentoring the next generation of engineers.
You'll have the opportunity to work on diverse projects across the full asset lifecycle, collaborate with industry-leading specialists globally and help create solutions that benefit communities for generations to come.
How you'll make a difference
Lead the delivery of complex water and wastewater treatment projects across Australia and New Zealand.
Provide technical leadership and innovative process engineering solutions focused on sustainability and efficiency.
Guide best-practice design approaches and solve complex technical challenges for clients.
Develop trusted relationships with clients by understanding their needs and delivering high-value outcomes.
Support business growth through proposals, client engagement and winning new work.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, design and project delivery.
Mentor and develop engineers, building capability and fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Influence the future direction of AECOM's wastewater process engineering capability.

We're looking for an experienced wastewater process engineering leader who is passionate about technical excellence, collaboration and delivering meaningful outcomes for communities.
You'll be a trusted advisor who can combine deep technical expertise with strong communication skills, client focus and the ability to lead complex projects.

Engineering degree (essential),



with CPEng and/or RPEQ/RPEV highly regarded.
Proven experience (ideally 10+ years' +) in wastewater treatment at a senior technical leadership level.
Strong technical knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, plant design and ANZ regulations.
Experience delivering projects across the full asset lifecycle.
Established networks and relationships within the Australian water industry.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and process engineering capability.
Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, client-focused approach.
Ability to manage and contribute across multiple projects simultaneously.
Passion for mentoring, developing people and building technical capability.
