About the role
Join our Health Services team and play a key role in protecting and enhancing the health and wellbeing of our community.
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will contribute to ensuring positive environmental health outcomes for the community and meeting the City's statutory compliance obligations under relevant legislation.
The Health Services Team conducts inspections, investigates customer complaints, implements enforcement actions, undertakes sampling, assesses applications, and issues statutory approvals.
Team members also provide specialist advice and education to customers, internal business units, and external agencies.
Environmental Health Officers play a key operational role in delivering these functions and supporting the objectives of the Health Services Team.
This position is offered on a fixed term full time basis (76 hours per fortnight) until 31 December ****.
Part-time or job-share arrangements may be considered for the successful applicant.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;
Interpret and enforce legislation, policies and standards including evidence gathering and instigating legal action
Provide qualified and technical advice and direction to internal and external customers
Planning, carrying out and reporting of environmental health functions including risk assessments, approvals, sampling programs, customer investigation requests, pollution management, public event risk management and onsite wastewater disposal
Assist in the review and implementation of policies, processes and operating procedures designed to achieve statutory environmental health aims through enforcement and public education
Initiate, implement and review projects designed to promote community environmental health and prevent or minimise public health risks
About you
The successful candidate will have the following:
Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health)



or other qualifications acceptable to the Chief Health Officer for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer
Current and valid WA C class drivers' licence
Previous experience or responsibility in environmental health projects or work (desirable)
A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.

The salary for this position will be from $97,****** - $116,****** per annum/pro rata, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
