The role
As a Principal Software Engineer,



you'll take a leading technical role across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to the design, development, support and continuous improvement of a sophisticated enterprise platform.
Working alongside experienced developers and technical specialists, you'll provide technical leadership while developing recent capabilities, supporting production systems and ensuring the ongoing reliability of critical business services.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications and backend servicesDevelop and enhance cloud-based integrations using AWS servicesDesign and implement robust REST and SOAP integrations with internal and external systemsDevelop and maintain Oracle database solutions, including data models and stored proceduresProduce high-quality technical designs, specifications and engineering documentationBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processesSupport software releases and production deploymentsTroubleshoot complex production issues across distributed systemsContribute to architecture decisions and provide technical guidance to stakeholders and leadershipParticipate in an on-call support roster for critical production systems (historically very low call-out frequency).
About you
You'll be an experienced enterprise software engineer who enjoys working on large, complex systems and takes pride in delivering reliable, maintainable software.
You'll ideally bring experience across most of the following:
Core Tech Skills8+ years' commercial Java development experienceEnterprise Java, Spring Framework and Spring BootJPA, Hibernate and enterprise design patternsRESTful APIs, SOAP services, OpenAPI, XML, JSON and related integration technologiesOracle Database, PL/SQL, data modelling and SQL optimisationAWS services including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, S3 and CloudFormationLinux/Unix and Bash scriptingMaven, Jenkins, Git and up-to-date CI/CD practicesAutomated testing and software quality practices.
