About the roleWe are seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join the Fire Station Hotel team in Wallsend, NSW.
This is a full-time position that plays a crucial operational role in our hospitality business.
As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and maintaining the highest standards of service delivery.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage staff, handle customer interactions, and respond to operational challenges with professionalism and composure.
You will work on-site at our hotel in Wallsend, leading our team during your shifts and ensuring our venue operates smoothly and profitably.
Key responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the venue, ensuring all areas maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety and service
Manage and supervise a small team of staff, providing direction, support and performance feedback whilst providing exceptional customer service and building and maintaining strong relationships with the local community.
Handle customer enquiries and resolve customer complaints or concerns promptly and professionally
Ensure compliance with licensing laws, work, health and safety regulations, and company policies
Manage till operations and reconcile daily takings
Conduct opening and closing procedures, securing the premises and managing access
Respond to emergency situations and implement appropriate safety procedures
Maintain communication with management regarding operational issues, customer feedback and staff performance
Contribute to revenue growth by maximising operational efficiency and promoting additional services
You will manage a talented and dedicated team during your shift, including providing exceptional levels of customer service as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with the local community.
What we're looking for
Proven experience in a hospitality management role, ideally within a hotel, pub or licensed venue
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and supervise teams
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and professionalism
Knowledge of hospitality operations, including food and beverage service, TAB, KENO and gaming operations
Understanding of licensing laws, work, health and safety regulations and responsible service of alcohol and responsible conduct of gambling requirements
Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills
Strong organisational and time management abilities
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
Must have current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) competency card
Must have or are willing to obtain an Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling (ARCG) competency card
First Aid qualifications are highly desirable
