Every day at Ronald McDonald House Victoria & Tasmania, we support families with seriously ill or injured children by providing accommodation, care and a sense of home when they need it most.
We're looking for a compassionate, people-focused Family Services Assistant to join our team at Ronald McDonald House Hobart.
This is much more than a customer service role.
You'll be at the heart of our House, supporting families throughout their stay, working alongside our volunteers and helping ensure the House is welcoming, secure and running smoothly every day,
This is a permanent part-time role, working 0.8 FTE across a rotating fortnightly roster, including 7 day shifts and 1 overnight shift.
Week 1: Monday, Wednesday, Friday (M, W, F - day shifts) and Saturday (overnight shift)Week 2: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday – all day shifts

For nearly 40 years, Ronald McDonald House Victoria & Tasmania has supported families with seriously ill children through accommodation, programs and services that keep families close to their child's care.

About the role
As a Family Services Assistant, you'll be one of the first people our families meet when they arrive at Ronald McDonald House Hobart and an important source of support throughout their stay.
You'll welcome and orientate families, assist with arrivals and departures, respond to day-to-day needs and help create a positive experience from their first interaction through to their last.
You'll also work closely with our volunteers and broader Operations team, helping coordinate activities, complete administration and ensure the House continues to meet our operational and quality standards.
This is a genuinely hands-on role.
From supporting a family or volunteer, completing paperwork and updating our systems, through to helping ensure shared spaces are clean, organised and welcoming – you'll do what's needed to help the House run smoothly.
The Success Profile specifically includes maintaining the presentation of the House and undertaking cleaning and housekeeping duties when required.

These qualities reflect the role's focus on communication, relationship building, collaboration, time management and working effectively with families, employees, volunteers and external stakeholders.
Ideally you'll bring:
Experience in community services, customer service, hospitality or another people-focused workplace.
Experience working in the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage.
Strong administration, IT and computer skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
Strong time management and organisational skills.
