The Role
The Head of Outdoor Learning provides strategic and operational leadership of the College's Outdoor Learning Program (OLP), overseeing the planning, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of outdoor learning experiences from Bush School through to Year 12.
Leading a team of experienced educators and specialist outdoor staff, the Head of Outdoor Learning is responsible for ensuring all programs are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with relevant legislative, regulatory and industry standards.
The role also works closely with College leaders, staff, students, families and external providers to ensure exceptional educational outcomes and a positive student experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Guide the strategic direction and continuous development of the College's Outdoor Learning Program in collaboration with peers and members of the Executive Team.
Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of Outdoor Learning experiences from Bush School through to Year 12.
Maintain contemporary expertise in outdoor education, student wellbeing, risk management and curriculum innovation, ensuring programs reflect best practice.
Build, mentor and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth and continuous improvement.
Participate in staff recruitment, selection and workforce planning, ensuring the effective alignment of staff capabilities with program and activity requirements
About You
Able to commence in January ****, you are an experienced Outdoor Learning educator with a passion for human-centered education.
With a solid commitment to student wellbeing, safety and personal growth, you inspire young people to develop confidence, resilience, leadership and self-awareness through meaningful outdoor experiences.
As part of our philosophy of care and inclusion for students, you are also a mentor or coach for staff,



seeking to support the development and growth of your team.
Committed to fostering a professional and dynamic community of innovation and change, based on current research, you will also be able to demonstrate your ability to ensure educational and curriculum compliance with legislated and College requirements.
Essential criteria include:
Demonstrated team leadership ability with strong interpersonal skills in an educational setting with proven ability to deliver high-quality outdoor learning experiences.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Strong understanding of risk management, compliance and duty of care requirements.
Exceptional relationship-building skills.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff.
High level attention to detail, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills.
Exemplary teaching skills and curriculum knowledge.
Relevant Tertiary qualifications
Current TRBWA registration
Hold a current Working with Children Check.
Current First Aid qualifications and relevant outdoor industry credentials.
