Jasper Farms, operating three orchards across the Busselton region, is one of Australia's leading avocado growers.

An exciting opportunity is now available for an Assistant Orchard Manager to join our leadership team at our Jasper Road orchard.
This role would suit a proactive, results-driven and motivated person wishing to develop a career in horticulture.
About the role
This is a unique opportunity.
Working alongside the Orchard Manager, you'll play a key role in a significant orchard redevelopment project to establish a new, state-of-the-art avocado orchard before transitioning into a long-term orchard management position focused on fruit quality, people leadership and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist in planning, coordinating and delivering the orchard redevelopment safely, efficiently and within agreed timelines
Coordinate and supervise contractors undertaking orchard removal tasks, land preparation, irrigation installation, infrastructure works and tree planting
Work with survey, engineering, technical and agronomy teams to implement GPS-guided orchard layouts and infrastructure.
Support GPS-based field operations, including mapping, row layout and orchard establishment.
Maintain accurate project records and report on productivity and resource utilisation.
Support implementation of the Orchard Management Plan as redevelopment transitions into full production.
Lead, train and mentor employees and contractors to meet safety, quality and productivity objectives.




Work with the technical team and agronomy consultants to develop and deliver best practice.
Support the Pruning Supervisor with sustainable tree training and pruning programs to maximise tree health, crop load and fruit quality
Coordinate contractors and maintain relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
Contribute to continuous improvement across safety, quality, environmental and operational performance
Maintain accurate operational records, productivity data and inventory of fertilisers, chemicals and supplies
Oversee the irrigation schedule and assist with maintenance as required
Safely operate essential machinery
Complying with workplace health and safety policies and programs.
About you
You're a self-starter, organised and hands-on leader who works well in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
You communicate effectively, build solid working relationships and are passionate about improving systems, developing people and delivering results.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Minimum 3 years' experience working on a large-scale orchard in a similar role.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to complete multiple concurrent tasks on time and effectively through thorough planning and prioritisation
Attention to detail to ensure accurate reporting and maintenance of necessary records




Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse workforce
Ability to supervise, train, coach and mentor other employees and contractors
A drive for continuous improvement and problem solving, keeping up to date with research and benchmarking data
A current driver's licence
Experience operating and maintaining agricultural and earth moving machinery
Desirable qualifications and skills:
Experience working on orchard establishment, redevelopment or large-scale agricultural development projects
Experience working with GPS guidance systems, field mapping and precision agriculture equipment
Experience interpreting orchard development plans, layouts and specifications
Forklift licence
Chemical handling certificate
First aid certificate
Qualification in Agriculture or Horticulture
Experience with computerised irrigation systems
